Sunrise Elementary Garden

5. November 2008 | Category: News | 0 Comments »

Lisa Hawkins and her crew of volunteers are in the final stages of completing the school/community garden at Sunrise Elementary School near Sunrise and Craycroft.  Lisa’s tireless effort, including grant writing as well as digging and organizing, will soon bear fruit and be on the way to a life of its own.

Info about what’s going on are here and here.

If you’d like to lend a hand in getting this garden off of the ground and maintaining it as a functional part of the school and surrounding community, please let us know and we’ll put you to work.

This year’s Tucson Green Festival has already started to bear fruit.  The calling of interested parties and possible hosts for new garden sites has begun.  Darlene, George, and Andy looked at a possible site this morning up near Ina and Silverbell.  It uncertain as to whether the site will work out for CGT, but our gang sure did meet some nice people.
