Thank You Dixondale Farms!

Dixondale Farms is collaborating with CGT on an onion experiment and fundraiser!

20170114_090458Dixondale has donated six bunches of onions (one each of Texas Legend, Texas Super Sweet, Texas Early White, Southern Belle Red, Yellow Granex and  White Bermuda Crystal Wax).

We plan to plant the onions in each of three school garden plots. We completed our first planting at Ventana Vista Garden this morning.

Tomorrow we will plant at Homer Davis and Davidson Gardens, weather permitting.

Upon Harvest, the onions will be weighed and measured and we will report back to Dixondale (and you) about which varieties do best in our challenging climate. We hope to involve students in as much of the process as possible. Following the assessment the onions will be sold at local Farmers’ Markets. The proceeds will benefit our garden scholarship fund.
