Organic Tomato Plant Sale
February 17 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Details from the event flyer:
“Rincon Heights Community Garden usually holds an early tomato plant sale so that our gardeners and the larger community can have access to tomato starts for planting in mid-February. This is the revised planting date for tomatoes, but it is hard to find starts in stores before March.
Our plants are organically grown with the help of mycorrhizal fungi, castings from vegan red wiggler worms, and actively aerated compost tea.
We have selected varieties that we expect to do well in Tucson. Most are heirlooms but we have responded to requests for a few hybrids as well. Shop early and you may be able to acquire:
Small varieties: Black Cherry, Indigo Rose Cherry, Large Red Cherry, Sungold, Super Sweet 100’s, Wild Boar Pink, Yellow Pear
Medium sized: Amish Gold, Amish Paste, Ceylon, Gold Nugget, Indian Moon, Jaune Flammee, Marglobe, Red Zebra, Green Zebra, San Marzano, Super Sioux
Large: Cherokee Green, Cherokee Purple, Caro Rich, Kellogg’s Breakfast, Costoluto
Price for small plants will be $2 each or 3 for $5. Larger plants will be offered for $3.00 each.
All profits from sale will be donated to Rincon Heights Community Garden
