GARDEN TO PANTRY

The "Why"

At Community Gardens of Tucson, getting fresh produce to people in need is a core value of our organization. Our popular Food Resiliency Program has provided the opportunity for many families in need to grow their own produce. We recognize, however, that some seasons of life don’t allow for growing one’s own produce. Our new pilot Garden to Pantry Program (G2P) offers a way for our organization to further address lack of access to fresh produce in our community.

The "How"

A committed group of staff and volunteers are growing produce in our gardens for community members in need. Working with local partner organizations, we organically grow the seasonal crops that are most needed and distribute the harvested produce directly to those who can benefit from it most. The program combines food production, community engagement, and education to strengthen Tucson's local food system. Through thoughtful garden planning, sustainable growing practices, and collaboration with experienced gardeners, we cultivate healthy crops while building community knowledge and food resilience.
